Bear Scouts is the Cub Scout program for 3rd graders.  Bear Scouts complete adventures that advance them towards their Bear rank. By completing at least seven adventures the Bear rank is earned, and awarded at the sacred Final Pack Meeting Ceremony.  In addition to completing required adventures, the Bear den will have opportunities to participate in Pack meetings by creating and performing skits and leading games, which helps scouts to increase their confidence through leading the pack and working independently.  Along with other Cub Scouts in the pack, Bears will also have the opportunity to participate in many classic Cub Scout contests, such as the Pinewood Derby, Raingutter Regatta and Rocket Ship Launch, and to go on adventures such as hiking and camping, and attend sports and STEM events.

Bear Rank Requirements:

  1. To earn the rank of Bear, Bear Scouts must complete each of the six required Bear adventures:
Bear ClawsBear NecessitiesFellowship and
Duty to God

(completed at home)
Fur, Feathers and FernsPaws for ActionBaloo the Builder
  1. In addition to the six required adventures listed above, Bears will also complete one or more Bear elective adventures with their den.
  2. With a parent, guardian or other caring adult, Bears complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children From Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide.
  3. The Bear will also earn the 3rd Grade Cyber Chip award for online safety.
