Installing Discord[edit | edit source]

Discord is located at http://discord.com. You can either download a Discord client, or run Discord directly through a browser. Both are identical, choose whichever version you prefer.

You'll need to register for a Discord account - children under 13 aren't allowed to register their own account. You may register using your child's email address if you want to keep the separation. It's also ok to use your own Discord account so you can monitor your child's use.

Joining the Discord Server[edit | edit source]

Before joining the Scoutcraft Discord Server, you'll need an invite. The only way to get an invite is when you email pack3807bsa@gmail.com to submit your username, as explained in the installation instructions. This is done for safety reasons - we don't want anyone we don't know or haven't approved to be able to interact with our children.

To select the Scoutcraft server, click on the Scoutcraft button on the left side of the screen. Once you're in the server, you'll see several "channels" to choose from. To join a channel, simply click on it.

  • Gameplay Prox Voice Channel - This is the main voice/video channel. Use it only when actually playing Scoutcraft.
  • Scoutcraft Voice Chat - This is a voice/video channel that you can use to talk to your friends when you're offline.
  • #scoutcraft-text-chat - This is a text chat channel that can be used anytime, whether you're on the server or not.
  • #scoutcraft-server-console - This channel shows the Scoutcraft server commands in real time.
  • #scoutcraft-server-status - This channel is run by the Scoutcraft bot. It posts the status of players, NPCs and the server itself.

Safety[edit | edit source]

A word of warning: Discord also has channels that may be inappropriate for children, so make sure to only allow them to subscribe to private servers and channels that you know are safe. Scoutcraft's channels are private and safe. Access is by invite only, and only Scoutcraft players and administrators are invited. Abuses of the Scoutcraft Discord server, such as bad language, sexual references or bullying, will result in a permanent Discord ban at administrators' discretion.
